Each year the Pritzker School of Medicine Reunion brings hundreds of medical alumni and their guests to campus and Chicago to celebrate and reconnect with classmates. The 2020 Pritzker Reunion was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Celebrating classes were invited to celebrate their milestone class Reunions during the 2021 Pritzker Reunion. Many classes in the 2020 cohort chose to connect with classmates during Virtual Happy Hours held June 5-6, 2020. Alumni shared reflections on what these gatherings meant to them during this time:
It was great to see Pritzker classmates on the Zoom Reunion call. Although it would have obviously been better to catch up in person, I still loved the chance to hear a little about what everyone is up to, catch glimpses of houses/partners/ babies/pets/intergalactic space in their backgrounds, and spend some time talking about both silly and serious things.
—Anne Castro, MD’15, 5th Reunion Class
It was wonderful to hear about the diverse and interesting things my classmates have done over the last 45 years and their many interesting contributions to medical science, clinical care and public health
—Richard Schilsky, MD’75, 45th Reunion Class
I’m grateful for my medical education at [University of] Chicago and to be part of this class. What a good experience to reflect with classmates about our journeys and to bring each other up to date on our families and activities.
—Jon Byler, MD’70, 50th Reunion Class
