Pritzker student shares HOST program experience

I am a fourth year medical student applying into pediatrics. I am very grateful for the alumni who have hosted me through the Help Our Students Travel (HOST) program. From the alumni I met during the interview trail, I have gleaned insights about the programs and cities where I have applied and enjoyed conversations on other topics, as well.

Of course, I cannot emphasize enough my appreciation for each of my hosts for offering a comfortable place to stay in their home. My alumni hosts invited me to join them at their family’s dinner table, shared sightseeing tips, and without exception, gave me a warm welcome. I have already stayed with several alumni throughout the interview trail. Staying with alumni through the HOST program not only helped alleviate the financial burden of traveling for residency interviews, it also provided peace of mind before interviews, insights into medical careers, and good conversations. In the future, I definitely would like to participate as a host myself to meet the next generation of Pritzker students—the alumni office can hold me to my word!
